New Year's Resolution 2016

 I'm back!!

Or I'm trying to be... I've been gone since June. Life got busy and I lost sight of what I really wanted to be doing and that was writing and sharing here - my own little piece of the blog world.

I'm not big on New Year's Resolutions because the whole "New Year, New Me" thing is utterly ridiculous. I see very few people holding to their resolutions, I generally just aim to grow and be a better person each year. This year I've decided on an actual resolution and it's to start and continue posting in blogs every week; I'm going to start with every other week but I hope to reach once a week before the middle of the year.

I was talking with my best friend Tana (aka The Styled Society - check her out for some amazing fashion) about being busy and worrying about not having anyone interested in reading what I wrote about... and she's basically told me to "man up" and stop worrying about whether or not anyone is reading it or not; really that's what best friends are for. I've decided to write for myself, I enjoy it and if I'm doing something I enjoy the readers will come. I'm aiming to write something fun and interesting in the New Year.

Until Next Time
xx Ashley

June Gloom, more like June BLOOM.

Hello lovelies!

This post is a little late since I started writing it 10 days ago & I'm just finishing it at the gym in the bike haha.

It's been about 4 weeks so I'm long overdue. May was hectic - work, work, Dodgers game, work, Exeter Brewfest, work, work, Mothers Day, more work, Boss Lady's birthday celebration, work, my brother's birthday, more work, another Dodgers game, got a gym membership and a boyfriend to finish it off haha. If you follow my Instagram you stayed up to date, if you don't you should so do it now ;) @lapetiteviee... so May was wonderful but quite frankly I'm glad it's over.

JUNE is here! They call it "June Gloom" but I say June BLOOM. It's my favorite month... My birth month. It's never as sunny as I want it to be and my birthday lands on a Tuesday this year but it's the official start of summer which makes me the happiest. #moresunshine I'm ready for shorts and tanks, sundresses and bathing suits on the reg, aren't you?!

I'm going to be talking about a few fun things I like that are going on this month in the City of Angels...

Went to First Fridays in Venice on Abbot Kinney for the first time (6/5/15) and it's food truck bonanzaaaa! My anticipation is particularly high because almost nothing excites me more than food... and food trucks especially. If you have no plans this is definitely the place to be on the First Friday of every month.

Last month Street. Food. Cinema. began... It's pretty self explanatory and down right amazing. Outdoors, food trucks and old movies = my Saturday night love for the summer. Providing the Facebook and website below:

Speaking of films... Summer blockbusters are coming out so make sure you get to some pre screenings and premiere, I went and saw the Entourage movie a few weeks ago, didn't go in with high expectations so loved it... I just love the friendships that stick it out through it all & Adrian Grenier ain't bad to look at for an hour & 44 minutes. Next is Sinister 2 is coming out in August, if you know me you know I love horror/thriller anything - books, films, etc. I had to sign a nondisclosure agreement before entering the theater but let's just say, the plot is decent but the ending is eh, not terrible though.

My new obsession is the gym. Finally getting back at it, I'm a little late for the summer bod since the first day of summer is on Sunday, I'm enjoying it though. My body forgot how amazing it felt to get a good sweat on. Anyone have any good suggestions for work out music let me know, I'm caught on the Weeknd Pandora station - kind of random.

To wrap it up, I haven't been to any Dodger games in a month or so, got wrapped up in the end of the basketball season & the NBA Finals. Congratulations to the GSW! West Coast, Best Coast. Finally going back to Elysian Park tomorrow (yay!). I've missed those boys in blue.

Happy (early) Father's Day to the stand up dads.

Til Next Time;
xx Ashley

Mother's Day

A short post for all the amazing mamas.

I hope everyone is spending time with the special woman that brought them into this world or the mother figure in their life. These women deserve all the love and appreciation.

I drove to the Central Coast so I could spend this day with my Mama. I know most kids claim that their mother is the best... But mine is quite literally THEE best.

I've never met a woman as obsessed and in love with all three of her kids as her. I always jokingly say that I'm the favorite but realistically she loves us all equally and she loves us hard.

So story time... This photo takes us back to my 4th birthday, I got a play wedding dress as a gift. When I came out everyone looked at me & said "Awwee" because I looked adorable (duh haha). Apparently I had a flair for the dramatic though because I ran to my mother crying that I didn't want anyone to look at me. She scooped me up, kind of laughing but kissed my tears away. Thank you Mama... For always being there for me, for being my supporter in all my moments even in ones as silly as this photo & for loving me & my brothers as much you do, it's unconditional. Happy Mother's Day Mama, I love you.

What To Say, What To Say...

Today, I bought myself flowers... pink and orange Gerber daisies to be exact. It's a sunny day in LA (again, surprise!) and I wanted my apartment to appear as bright and happy as I felt/feel. I think I'm going to do it more often, I'm not a big flower lover or anything but I've enjoyed having colorful, beautiful big flowers to look at today. I kind of think women need to do this for themselves more often, whether you have a significant other or not, it has the capability to brighten your day and why not do that for yourself? #flowerpower

Well I haven't updated here in over a week due to the holiday and just craziness at work so I hope everyone had a fabulous Easter this past weekend with your family and friends, or whomever you chose to spend it with; I spent mine on the Central Coast with my family. Spent my Saturday outside in the sun drinking wine at Kelsey See Canyon Winery with my mama and then spent the evening with my dear and beautiful friends that I don't see nearly enough. Easter Sunday, went to church with my family and just enjoyed relaxing, eating and playing with my niece and nephew. Those two are literally my favorite living beings in the universe and since it was my nephew's official FIRST Easter it was so cute to watch him do his first "hunt"; also pretended to not help my niece find her last few eggs while my older brother yelled "Make her find them!" haha I've never been very good at listening.

Beautiful Trinity & Handsome Uriah
So after a long (yet lovely) Easter weekend, it was back to business and man, oh man was this week hectic. I feel like it's been non-stop go and I totally intended to write when I got home, instead spent part of my Monday at the DMV getting my replacement license and then drove back to LA and then did my own taxes for the first time - grown up stuff haha! Work was hectic but we're all caught up on  orders and HRH-ettes of the world will all be getting their gems soon, yay! Midst the insanity, I was able to throw in a little fun mid-week and went to my first Dodger game of this season and they beat the Padres 7 to 4! Wooo hooo - how I love those boys in blue... and you really can't go wrong with a Dodger dog and beer. #GoDodgers

With a long and busy week at work it was nice to slow down today to get some things done for myself; organized my desk and cleaned my place, grocery shopping, bought my flowers... I feel so productive! Still got some laundry to do but I'll leave that for tomorrow. I'm thinking that this girl needs to go see her boyfriend (Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson) in Furious 7 tonight. I'm prepared to cry for Paul Walker at the end, when Brian and Dominic drive off... aaahhhhgggaaadddd ALL THE FEELS! Hahah, I know I'm silly but I really have loved this whole series since the first one (except Tokyo Drift that one was lame lol).

Anyways, I hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend!

NOTE: While I struggle with what to say and to find my niche in blogging I just wanted to say I appreciate those of you who are baring with me and reading my rambles. I swear it will be worth it.

Until Next Time... xx Ashley

"What We Do Is Secret" charity exhibit at Stone Malone Gallery

Greetings loved ones!

I fully intended to come back on yesterday evening and write a second post but my YouTube video was being extremely difficult and not uploading. Since I'm new to all the nonsense I may have broken some copyright rules but I think I fixed it now. I thought I could set a song to a clip without an issue as long as I gave credit... but I guess not? Not really sure how that works, if someone else does let me know! :)

Anyway, this post is about the amazing art show I went to on Saturday. My dear friend, Lucas Raynaud, from back home curated this show and it was amazing. Lucas partnered with another individual, who I unfortunately don't know there name but I have their instagram - @thegossipandthechoir. It was an incredible show with some unbelievably talented artists. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and the crowd that was there. This type of art would be classified as what I would call street art or urban art; graffiti. It appeared that most of the artists used spray paints and acrylic paints for their pieces. Lucas did the woodwork for what each artists was given to use as a canvas, wood life-size spray cans and square backdrop. He also made 50 mini wooden spray cans for the first 50 guests who came that nigh...  I made sure I was one of them :)

What I loved most about this show wasn't only the fantastic artwork but that a portion of all sales are being donated to the charity, #HashtagLunchbag AND they were taking donations for PROJECT SMILE SOUTH CENTRAL, a community project dedicated to beautifying the neighborhoods of South Central Los Angeles with murals and artwork from world renowned artists to community children. They held a raffle for a book by Billboard Bandits as well to help with the charities. GUESS WHO was one of the lucky winners for that book?? YOURS TRULY! I got the text yesterday right after making my video, I was so excited haha!

If you are interested in seeing and/or purchasing any of the artwork the show is running from March 28, 2015 to April 11, 2015. They are having a closing night on 4/11 and there will be all new pieces up... I will definitely be in attendance! Location is:

Stone Malone Gallery
7619 1/2 Melrose Ave,
Los Angeles, California 90046

That's all for now. Check out the video : Update & "What We Do Is Secret" at Stone Malone Gallery

Hey, hi, hello there!

Salutations to all you wonderful people!

My name is Ashley Suzzanne... it's pronounced SUS-zah-n, almost like "Susan" but not quite. I wish there was a way to place some audio here like on a translation site hahaha.

Anyway, this is my intro to the world of blogging. I've been wanting to start a blog for quite some time and just never had the courage to really do it, which is strange because I'm not the type to be nervous about sharing my thoughts and feelings. I think it was more of a unfamiliarity with the world of blogging and not sure of what direction to take my blog. I have some amazing influences though their styles and content are very different than what mine will be; I think I may have possibly put pressure on myself and felt a need to fit into their ways.... but I have come to grips and realized I was being silly.

I once was an avid writer. I used to write DAILY in journals or diaries, whatever type of notebooks I could get my hands on. My mom knows... she spent plenty of money on buying me spiral notebooks or even investing in leather bound journals as I was growing up. They are piled in my hope chest in my old room at her house, thankfully she doesn't mind holding onto them for me until I find a big enough place for myself.

Writing used to be a great outlet for me. There's something about putting your thoughts on a piece of paper that just feels right to me. I'm unsure of why I lost touch with doing so but I'm excited for this because life is beautiful, extraordinary and tragic as you all know and I really can't wait to share it with all of you.

My main goal is to spread positivity and happiness, not just through this but in my life. This way my reach can hopefully be a little bit further, I have short arms so it can be hard.

Today I'm going to be posting TWICE, exciting right

Introductions and then the real fun begins :)
Stay tuned...
